J.W. v. GOETHE VINTAGE RESERVE, 1952
“Perfection of any kind must go beyond its kind.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 1809
In honour of the great German prince among poets, the House of Asbach presented a jewel, a unique treasure, on the occasion of its 120th anniversary: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe Vintage Reserve 1952 — limited to 900 carafes made by a Bohemian glass factory. This extraordinary distillate is a product of the Asbach distillery in Rüdesheim am Rhein.
The origin of this speciality is a select white wine from the year 1951 that the master distiller Oswald Rösel distilled on 31 July 1952 using the masterful procedure of the double distillation in copper stills. The distillate spent the first part of its astonishingly long maturing period in small casks made from the fine wood of the Limousin oak. Its bouquet later developed to perfection in larger casks of German Spessart oak in the Asbach Treasure Trove.
